How much does AT&T pay Apple?
Many of us may wonder what the link between AT&T and Apple is in terms of money. Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray did some math and came up with a figure of $18. That’s the amount that AT&T gives Apple per month per iPhone customer, coming to a total of $432 over a 2 year contract. That number is by no means solid; Citibank’s Richard Gardner did his own research and came up with a $12 figure, which works out to $288 for 24 months. Either way, it’s interesting to note that if 250,000 iPhones were purchased for unlocking, that’s a huge amount of potential cash that Apple is losing out on—possibly as much as $130 million in profits.
